-Alternatives for the Older
Adult's Sharing the Caring program helps to simplify the active role of
looking after an older adult family member, spouse, or friend.
-The Caregiver Program provides:
- Individual consultations
about care needs
- Family sessions regarding
care options
- Facilitation of caregiver
support group
- Information helpful in educating
caregivers about
difficult issues they may encounter
- Respite services
to support caregivers and provide a needed break
- Equipment and home
modifications to assist caregivers to better meet the
needs of the care recipient
- Referral and information
to link to other community agencies

Powerful Tools for Caregiving
A series of classes for
Caregivers of Seniors
“Taking Care of You: Powerful Tools For Caregiving” --Alternatives for the Older Adult is offering a six-week program to give caregivers the skills they need to take care of themselves and to feel more confident in the care they provide.

GENESEO, IL (Henry County)
Classes are every Thursday, starting November 1 through December 13, 2007 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 pm.
(except Thanksgiving week).
Classes will be held at the Evangelical Free Church, 914 N Chicago St., Geneseo. To register for the course and arrange for respite help, call Alternatives at 309/277-0167.

Caregiver
Support Groups
The groups meet monthly to share concerns and ideas to assist them in their caregiving role—taking care of an older loved one, family member, or friend. In addition to caregiver support issues the meetings may also have an educational speaker scheduled on topics covering health, finance, medical and nutritional areas as well as those of general interest.
